Description

★ Struck on an unusually heavy flan ★

Gallienus, 253-268. Antoninianus (Silver, 22 mm, 5.20 g, 6 h), Cologne, 257-258. GALLIENVS•P•F•AVG Radiate and cuirassed bust of Gallienus to left, holding spear in his right hand and shield with his left. Rev. GERMANICVS MAX V Trophy between two bound and seated captives. Cohen 311. MIR 872m. RIC 18 ('Lugdunum'). An attractive and unusually heavy example with a portrait of fine style. Minor traces of overstriking (?) on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
