★ A beautifully toned tetradrachm imitating Eukratides I of Baktria ★
EARLY SKYTHIANS, Imitating Eukratides I of Baktria. Tetradrachm (Silver, 35 mm, 16.78 g, 12 h), late 2nd-early 1st century BC. Diademed and draped bust of Eukratides to right, wearing Macedonian helmet adorned with bull's horn and ear. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ MEΓAΛOΥ / EΥKΡATIΔOΥ The Dioskouri galloping to right, each holding spear and palm frond; to lower right, monogram. Cf. Bopearachchi série 6 (for prototype). Beautifully toned and unusually attractive. Very minor doubling on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
