★ An attractive tetradrachm of Philoxenos ★

BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Philoxenos, circa 125-110 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 9.79 g, 11 h), Indian standard, uncertain mint in Paropamisadai or Gandhara. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANIKHTOΥ / ΦIΛOΞENOY Diademed and draped bust of Philoxenos to right. Rev. 'Maharajasa apadihatasa Philasinasa' (in Karoshti) Philoxenos on horseback to right; to lower right, monogram. Bopearachchi 3E. HGC 12, 267. A lovely example with a fine portrait. Light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
