Description

CYPRUS. Uncertain mints. 5th century BC. Obol (Silver, 9 mm, 0.83 g). Uncertain design. Rev. Laurel branch with bud; to left, bird standing left; to right, ankh. BMC -. Tziambazis -. The obverse struck from a very worn die, otherwise, very fine.

While the assigment of this issue to Cyprus is tentative, the ankh in particular is a symbol often employed on Cypriot coinage, as is the crude laurel branch.
