★ An exceptional stater of Evagoras ★
CYPRUS. Salamis. Evagoras I, circa 411-374 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 11.18 g, 2 h). 𐠁𐠄𐠲𐠍𐠦 ('e-u-wa-ko-ro' in Cypriot syllabic script) Youthful Herakles, nude, seated right on rock draped with lion skin, holding a rhyton in his left hand and leaning on club with his right. Rev. 𐠞-𐠪𐠐𐠃/𐠩 ('pa-si-le-wo-se' in Cypriot syllabic script) He-goat recumbent right. BMC 56 var. (1/3 stater). Masson & Amandry 1a-c. Tziambazis 114 var. (1/3 stater). Rare and in exceptional condition for the issue. A beautiful issue, very well centered and struck from unusually fresh dies. Light doubling, otherwise, extremely fine.
