Description

INDIA, Kushan Empire. Kanishka I, circa 127/8-152. Tetradrachm (Bronze, 25 mm, 17.64 g, 12 h), probably Begram. BACIΛЄYC BACIΛЄⲰN KANHÞKOY ('King of Kings Kanishka' in Greek) Kanishka I standing facing, head to left, sacrificing over altar with his right hand. Rev. 'NαNα' (in Bactrian) Goddess Nana standing right, nimbate and wearinf crescent, holding scepter in her right hand and box in her left; to right, tamgha. ANS Kushan 540. An attractive example with a lovely reverse. Some deposits, otherwise, very fine.
