★ A beautiful as of Divus Augustus ★

Divus Augustus, died AD 14. As (Copper, 29 mm, 11.59 g, 7 h), Rome, struck under Tiberius, circa 22/3-30. DIVVS•AVGVSTVS•PATER Radiate head of Divus Augustus to left. Rev. PROVIDENT / S - C Square altar with two doors and two horns left and right on top. BMC 146. CBN 131. Cohen 228. RIC 81. A beautiful coin with a lovely brown patina and a very sharp and attractive portrait. The reverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, extremely fine.

From an old Swiss collection, ex Schweizerische Kreditanstalt Monetarium FPL 39, spring 1983, 75 (with original dealer's ticket).
