★ Among the finest Ephesian tetradrachms known ★

IONIA. Ephesos. Circa 350-340 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 15.31 g, 11 h), Prytanis, magistrate. E-Φ Bee with straight wings. Rev. ΠΡΥΤΑΝΙΣ Forepart of a stag to right, head turned back to left; behind to left, palm tree with two date clusters. CNG 45 (1998), 410 ( same dies ). Pixodarus Class G, p. 191, cf. pl. 27, O126. SNG Copenhagen -. SNG von Aulock -. Lustrous and sharp, an exceptionally attractive example and certainly among the finest Ephesian tetradrachms known. Tiny spot of die rust on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
