Description

Trebonianus Gallus, 251-253. Aureus (Gold, 19 mm, 2.64 g, 7 h), Rome, 253. IMP CAE C VIB TREB GALLVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Trebonianus Gallus to right, seen from behind. Rev. LIBERTAS AVGG Libertas standing front, head to left, leaning left on column, holding pileus in her right hand and long scepter in her left. Cohen -. Calicó 3338. RIC 21. Extremely rare. Plugged hole at 12 o'clock on the obverse and somewhat clipped, otherwise, very fine.

From the collection of Regierungsrat Dr. iur. Hans Krähenbühl, privately acquired from Bank Leu on 29 June 1966 (with a photocopy of the original invoice enclosed).
