★ An extremely rare tetradrachm of Antiochos III from Seleukeia on the Kalykadnos ★
SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos III ‘the Great’, 222-187 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.07 g, 1 h), probably Seleukeia on the Kalykadnos, circa 210-200. Diademed head of Antiochos III to right. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ANTIOXOY Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on grounded bow; to outer left, forepart of a horse to left above monogram of AN. SC pl. 51, 1016 ( same dies ). WSM 1331. Extremely rare. A beautiful example of this interesting issue with a bold and impressive portrait. Very light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
