★ A wonderful tetradrachm of Antiochos I ★
SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos I Soter, 281-261 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.74 g, 9 h), Seleukeia on the Tigris. Diademed head of Antiochos I to right. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ANTIOXOY Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on grounded bow; to left and right, monograms. ESM 157. SC 379.3d. A wonderful piece, very well struck in high relief and with a most dramatic portrait. Very minor doubling on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
