SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator, 312-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.20 g, 7 h), in the name and types of Alexander the Great. Ekbatana, circa 311-295. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, two monograms above horizontal Seleukid anchor above forepart of horse grazing left; below throne, ΣΩ. Price 3931. SC 202.11b. A wonderful piece, beautifully centered on a full flan. Some horn silver and with a minor metal fault on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
