CILICIA. Tarsos. Mazaios, satrap of Cilicia, 361/0-334 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 10.87 g, 6 h). 𐡁𐡏𐡋𐡕𐡓𐡆 ('b'ltrs' in Aramaic) Baaltars seated left on backless throne, his body turned to front, holding lotus-tipped scepter in his right hand; to left, grain ear; below throne, T. Rev. Lion attacking bull to left; below, crenelated city walls; above to left, club. Casabonne series 1. SNG Levante -. SNG Paris 362-364. A lovely piece with light iridescent toning and a particularly attractive reverse. Small flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
