Description

CAMPANIA. Neapolis. Circa 275-250 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 18 mm, 7.32 g, 12 h). Diademed head of a nymph to left, wearing triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. [N]EΟΠΟΛIT[ΩN] Man-headed bull walking to left; above, Nike flying left to crown the bull. HN Italy 586. SNG ANS 380. SNG Copenhagen 439. An attractively toned piece of fine style. Slightly rough, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of Regierungsrat Dr. iur. Hans Krähenbühl, privately acquired from P. Höfer on 21 September 1981 (with a photocopy of the original invoice enclosed).
