Leo I, 457-474. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.52 g, 5 h), Constantinopolis, circa 462 or 466. D N LEO PE-RPET AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Leo I facing, his head turned slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield decorated with horseman attacking a fallen foe over his left shoulder. Rev. VICTORI-A AVGGG B / CONOB Victory standing left, holding long jeweled cross; to right, star. Depeyrot 93/1. RIC 605. A lustrous example. Virtually as struck.
