★ A rare stater from Kyrene ★

KYRENAICA. Kyrene. Ophellas, Ptolemaic Governor, first reign, circa 322-313 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 8.65 g, 11 h), Polianthes, magistrate. KYPENAIΩN Nike driving slow quadriga half-right, holding reins with both hands and kentron in her right. Rev. ΠOΛIANΘEYΣ Zeus Ammon standing facing, head to left, sacrificing from phiale over thymiaterion with his right hand and holding lotus-tipped scepter with his left. BMC 118-122. Naville 104. SNG Copenhagen 1210. A well-centered and clear example without the usual reverse double strike. Tiny marks, otherwise, good very fine.
