★ Struck on a very broad flan ★

Justinian I, 527-565. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.47 g, 5 h), Constantinopolis, 545-565. D N IVSTINIANVS P P AVI Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Justinian facing, holding globus cruciger in his right hand and shield, decorated with cavalryman riding over fallen enemy, in his left. Rev. VICTORIA AVGGG Є / CONOB Angel standing facing, holding long linear staff surmounted by staurogram in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; in field to right, star. DOC 9e. MIB 7. SB 140. Struck on a very broad flan. Light scratches on the obverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.
