★ Struck on an unusually broad and heavy flan ★

Valerian I, 253-260. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 29 mm, 22.38 g, 12 h), Rome, 253-254. IMP C P LIC VALERIANVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Valerian I to right. Rev. VIRTVS AVGG / S - C Virtus standing front, head to left, holding spear in her left hand and placing her right on shield set on ground. Cohen 269. MIR 38g. RIC 182. Struck on an unusually broad and heavy flan. Patina stripped and with minor doubling on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
