Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.24 g, 12 h), Sardes, struck under Menander, circa 323/2. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔP[OY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram; below throne, horizontal torch. Price 2601. Minor marks, otherwise, very fine.
