CARIA. Antiochia ad Maeandrum . Domitian, 81-96. Diassarion (Bronze, 21 mm, 8.36 g, 12 h), Ti. Claudius Agelaus Frugi, epimeletes. ΔΟΜΙΤΙΑΝΟC KAICAP CЄBACTOC ΓЄPMANIKOC Laurate head of Domitian to right. Rev. ЄΠΙΜЄΛΗ TI KΛ ΑΓΛΑΟΥ ΦΡΟΥΓΙ / ΑΝΤΙΟΧЄ Dionysos standing left, holding kantharos in right hand and thyrsos in left and resting left elbow on column; to left at feet, panther seated left. RPC II 1218. SNG Copenhagen 49. Rare and interesting. Struck on a slightly short flan and with some metal faults , otherwise, good very fine.

In Hellenistic times, epimeletai ('curators') were the deputies of kings who handled the affairs of a polis. Under Roman administration, epimeletes was the Greek translation of the Latin procurator.
