ISLAMIC, 'Abbasid Caliphate. Al-Mu'tamid, AH 256-279 / AD 870-892. Dirham (Silver, 25 mm, 3.00 g, 12 h), citing the caliph al-Mu'tamid and the heir apparent al-Mufawwid as Ja'far, Fars, AH 256 = AD 869/70. SICA IV, 714. Rare and nicely toned. The flan slightly wavy, otherwise, about very fine.
From the Tabib Collection, formed over the past 40 years.
The name Ja'far means 'sacred water from the heavens'.
