Description

★ A very rare variety ★

Heraclius, with Heraclius Constantine, 610-641. 12 Nummi (Bronze, 17 mm, 3.85 g, 6 h), a crude and irregular imitation of a dodekanummia from Alexandria. Irregular mint in Egypt, perhaps under Sasanian occupation. Draped bust of Heraclius, bearded, and Heraclius Constantine facing, both wearing crowns surmounted with crosses. Rev. Cross potent on two steps flanked by I and B. DOC -. Cf. T. Goodwin: Some Aspects of 7th Egyptian Byzantine Coinage, Fig 6 (for other irregular varieties of this type). MIB 3 -. SB -. A very rare variety without mint name in the exergue. Very fine.
