Description

INDIA, Gupta Empire. First Dynasty. Samudragupta, circa 335-380. Dinar (Gold, 20 mm, 7.33 g, 1 h). SAMUDRA (in Brahmi) King standing front, head to left, sacrificing with his right hand over altar and holding rajanda (royal scepter) in his left; in field to upper left, Gadura standing facing. Rev. PARAKRAMAH (in Brahmi) Ardoxsho enthroned facing, holding cornucopiae in her right hand and filleted investiture garland in her left; in field to upper left, tamgha. Kumar, p. 199, Class II, variety A. Good fine.
