★ An attractive quasi-municipal issue from Antiochia on the Orontes ★

SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos IV Epiphanes, 175-164 BC. AE (Bronze, 22 mm, 7.86 g, 1 h), quasi-municipal issue, Antiochia on the Orontes, circa 168-164. Radiate and diademed head of Antiochos IV to right. Rev. ANTIOXEΩN - TΩN / ΠPOΣ ΔAΦNHI Zeus standing front, head to left, holding wreath in his right hand; to left, monogram; to right, AB. SC 1416.1 var. (no date). Struck on a broad flan and with a lovely patina. The obverse a bit weak and with minor corrosion on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
