★ A very rare 1/3 miliaresion of Romanus IV Diogenes ★
Romanus IV Diogenes, 1068-1071. 1/3 Miliaresion (Silver, 17 mm, 0.84 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. Facing nimbate bust of the Virgin orans, wearing pallium and maphorium; in field to left, M over ΘΚ, to right, Θ over RΘ. Rev. ΡωΜ Facing bust of Romanus IV, wearing crown and loros, holding patriarchial cross in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; all within triple linear border ornamented with four Δ. DOC 7. SB 1865A. Very rare and nicely toned. Struck from somewhat worn dies and with minor deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
