★ An exceptional left facing portrait of Caracalla ★

Caracalla, 198-217. Dupondius (Orichalcum, 26 mm, 11.78 g, 1 h), Rome, 214. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG GERM Radiate and draped bust of Caracalla to left, seen from behind. Rev. P M TR P XVII IMP III COS IIII P P / S C Roma seated left on cuirass and shields, holding Victory in her right hand and spear in her left; at feet to left, a German kneeling right in supplication. BMC p. 482, † note = Cohen 266. RIC 530b. Rare. A beautiful coin with a bold and impressive portrait and a magnificent green patina. Thin flan crack and with an old scuff on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
