PHRYGIA. Cibyra. Gordian III, 238-244. Hexassarion (Bronze, 38 mm, 22.80 g, 7 h), CY 217 = 240/1. ΑΥ ΚЄ Μ ΑΝΤΩ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ Radiate head of Gordian III to right. Rev. ΚΙΒΥΡΑΤΩΝ - ΖΙϹ Herakles standing right, resting his right hand on his hip and leaning left on club set on draped herm, lion skin draped over club. RPC VII.1 660.9 = SNG von Aulock 3749 ( same dies ). A lovely coin of charmingly crude style with a beautiful gray patina. Light doubling and with some minor adjustment marks as made, otherwise, good very fine.
