★ A beautifully toned drachm of Philoxenos ★

BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Philoxenos, circa 125-110 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15x16 mm, 2.39 g, 12 h), Indian standard, uncertain mint in Paropamisadai or Gandhara. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ANIKHTOΥ - ΦIΛOΞENOΥ Draped bust of Philoxenos to right, wearing crested Boiotan helmet adorned with bull’s horn and ear. Rev. 'Maharajasa apadihatasa Philasinasa' (in Karoshti) Philoxenos on horseback to right; to lower left; below, Σ and monogram. Bopearachchi 6D. HGC 12, 272, MIG 339f. A splendid and beautifully toned example. Good extremely fine.
