Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 14.28 g, 12 h), Pella, circa 359-355/4. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Philip II on horseback to left, wearing kausia and raising his right hand in salute; below, wreath above monogram. Le Rider pl. 3, 62-68. Lightly toned and of monumental early style. Light doubling on the obverse and with a minor scrape on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From a German collection, formed in the early 2000s.
