Caracalla, 198-217. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 2.86 g, 11 h), a contemporary imitation. Irregular mint, after 207. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG Laureate head of Caracalla to right. Rev. PONTIF TR P X COS II Mars advancing right, holding spear in his right hand and trophy over his left shoulder. Cf. BMC 542, Cohen 431 and RIC 88 (for prototype). Darkly toned. Good very fine.
