PHRYGIA. Hierapolis. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Diassarion (Orichalcum, 21 mm, 6.62 g, 6 h), 2nd to early 3rd century AD. Draped bust of Serapis to right, wearing kalathos. Rev. IЄPOΠΟΛЄITΩN - XPYCO/POAC The river-god Chrysoroas reclining left, holding two poppies in his right hand and leaning left on urn from which water flows. BMC -. RPC IV online 2972 (2 specimens). SNG Copenhagen -. SNG von Aulock -. Very rare, and perhaps the finest known. Good very fine.
