★ A very rare mint ★

SASANIAN KINGS. Khosrau I, 531-579. Drachm (Silver, 31 mm, 4.17 g, 4 h), AL (in Armenia?), RY 42 = AD 572. Draped bust of Khosrau I to right, wearing mural crown with fronted crescent, korymbos set on crescent; to left and right of the crown, a five-pointed star; behind head, AFZUT ('may increase' in Pahlawi); before head, HWSRWD ('Khosrau' in Pahlawi). Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants; in upper left field, six-pointed star; in upper right field, crescent; to left, date; to right, AL (name of the mint in Pahlawi). SSCT -. A very rare mint. Struck from somewhat worn dies, otherwise, very fine.
