PHOENICIA. Arados. Circa 138/7-44/3 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 15.29 g, 12 h), CY 199 = 61/0. Turreted, veiled and draped bust of Tyche to right. Rev. APAΔIΩN Nike standing front, head to left, holding aphlaston in her right hand and palm frond over her left shoulder; to left, ΘϘΡ above Phoenician letter aleph above ΕΣ; all within laurel wreath. Duyrat 4165-88. HGC 10, 72. SNG Copenhagen 57. Beautifully toned and with a very old pedigree. Minor deposits and with a flan crack, otherwise, very fine.
