PAMPHYLIA. Aspendos. Circa 380/75-330/25 BC. Stater (Silver, 25 mm, 10.84 g, 3 h). Two nude wrestlers, standing and grappling with each other. Rev. ΕΣΤFΕΔΙΙΥΣ Slinger standing right; to right, triskeles running left; all within dotted square border within incuse square; three circular countermarks: helmeted head of Athena to right, janiform male head and uncertain. Tekin Series 4. SNG Paris 68. An interesting example with lovely countermarks. Struck from a heavily worn obverse die and with a thin die break on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
