★ A very rare drachm from Ephesos of charming Archaic style ★

IONIA. Ephesos. Circa 550-500 BC. Drachm (Silver, 13 mm, 3.40 g). Bee with curved wings and coiled tendrils; on right wing, E; on left wing, [Φ]. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Karwiese Series VI, 1A, 52. S. Fried: The Decadrachm hoard: an introduction, in: I. Carradice, ed., Coinage and Administration in the Athenian and Persian Empires, BAR 343 (1987), p. 6f. and pl. IV, 35. Very rare and of charming Archaic style. Struck on a somewhat short flan, otherwise, good very fine.
