SICILY. Syracuse. Dionysios I, 405-367 BC. Litra (Silver, 11 mm, 0.77 g, 5 h), circa 405-400. ΣYPAKOΣIΩN Head of Arethusa to left, wearing pearl necklace and with her hair bound by an ampyx in the front and a sphendone in the back; behind her head, dolphin swimming downwards. Rev. Octopus with entwined central tentacles. HGC 2, 1381. SNG ANS 293. Rare and with beautiful old collection toning. Good very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1980s and 1990s.
