PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy VI Philometor, first reign, 180-164 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 13.92 g, 12 h), Alexandria, circa 180-170. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt. SNG Copenhagen 262-8. Svoronos 1489. Beautifully toned and with a superb portrait. A few light marks and some roughness near the reverse edge, otherwise, good very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s.
