Description

Second Intermediate Period, c. 1650-1550 B.C. Steatite scarab (23x16mm). Base engraved with a human figure standing right, holding a sceptre, surrounded by eight scorpions. Back decorated with two curls. Intact, once glazed, pierced for mounting with part of metal wire still visible inside the top hole. Extremely rare and interesting design on a large and appealing scarab. From an American Collection formed in the 1990's
