Description

Second Intermediate Period, 15th Dynasty, c. 1650-1550 B.C., Apophis I. Steatite scarab (20x14mm). Base divided into three vertical panels, the central one engraved with the birth name of King Apophis I, preceded and followed by “Good God” and “Given life”. On the sides, symmetrical signs. Cf. NFA 30. Intact, once glazed, pierced for mounting, some earthen hard deposits. From the Freemark Collection (1882-1966), Elmore, Ohio
