An early Knight’s Cross 1st model, 2nd type (without oak leaves between the arms); 43x26 mm, GOLD, with white bordered, red enameled arms; obverse centre medallion with golden monogram on red enamel, white enameled outer circlet with black enameled order’s motto; white enameled, reverse centre medallion with inscription in black enamel, within a thick, chiselled gold laurel wreath; round upper loop and oval, grooved ribbon ring; original, silk ribbon; missing imperial crown, as it often happens with this type, where the crown acts as a “slider” on the ribbon, not linked to the decoration. A very rare piece, extremely fine condition. I- RR!
