A Knight Commander’s Breast Star, 73 mm, belonged to a Russian dignitary: chiselled and pierced four-armed cross, superimposed with the order’s Cross with
“frosted” finish; gilt and enameled centre (small chips to the blue enamelled outer circlet) surmounted by the royal crown of Tudor type in gold and enamels, the reverse, with two gold screws fixing the obverse assembly; the original pin, changed on behalf of the original owner, with a screwback
suspension of Russian type, its main silver disc, struck with a silver and a “ДО” mark, the smaller nut, with two spheres. Having been the rear medallion
drilled to place the screw, of the originally three-digits engraved award number, only the first and the last “1” and “6” are well visible, the middle digit could be a “7” or, less probably, a “3”.
