Description

Froelich, Erasmus. APPENDICULA AD NUMOS AUGUSTORUM, ET CÆSARUM, AD URBIBUS GRÆCE LOQUENTIBUS CUSOS, QUOS CL. VAILLANTIUS COLLEGERAT... Viennæ: Typis Mariæ Theresiæ Voigtin Viduæ, Un. Typ., 1734. Small 8vo [17 by 10.5 cm], later marbled boards; hand-lettered spine labels. (8), 148, (16) pages; woodcut headpieces and tailpieces; 19 engraved folding plates of ancient coins. Early ownership signatures and stamps, personal and institutional. Very good or better. A scarce volume, similar to Froelich’s 1733 work described earlier, attributed by Dekesel to Erasmus Froelich and included in revised form in Froelich’s Quatuor tentamina of 1737. This first issue of the work credits Ludwig de Biel as the promotore of the work (i.e., the head of the academic examination committee), and does not mention Froelich. Dekesel F193, Issue 1. Hirsch 44. Lipsius 13, 134 & 409.
