Five sales by the founder of the Bourgey dynasty. The second sale is that of Manuel Vidal Quadras y Ramón, and is important for Roman Republican coins (Clain-Stefanelli 3767 and Grierson 288). The third sale features important Merovingian coins, along with Roman Imperial coins (Clain-Stefanelli 5782). Étienne Bourgey (1864–1943) established the numismatic firm for which he is known in 1895. He became a well-known figure in the French auction scene, with his address at 7 rue Drouot right by the famous Hôtel Drouot. His son Émile (1914–93) assumed the helm in 1945; Sabine Bourgey-Louis represents the third generation of the family business, taking over the business in 1993 on the death of her father Émile.
