Superbly engraved portrait of the author by I.H. Boeclerus after a painting by T. Roos; (12), 219 [48–49 used twice, as always], (1) pages; finely engraved title vignette with an astronomical motif; finely engraved dedication device, headpieces and tailpiece; woodcut headpiece, tailpieces and initials; numerous textual engravings of ancient coins and inscriptions throughout. Large early engraved bookplate of the Ritterkantons Odenwald (Reich-Ritterschafft Orths Ottenwald Bibliothek). Near fine. The first edition, comprising a detailed account of Patin’s own collection and featuring a delightful portrait of the author seated by his coin cabinet, with his library in the background.
