Printed cover signed by Raoul-Rochette. Spotting; very good or better in a recent binding. Rare. The author, Ivan Pavlovich (Jean Moret de) Blaramberg (1772–1831) was of Flemish birth, but moved to Russia in 1797. After a military and civil career, Blaramberg devoted his energies increasingly to archaeology, particularly of the Black Sea littoral. He was a founder of the Odessa Museum of Archaeology and director of the Kerch Historical and Archaeological Museum. His work on the ancient coinage of the region was groundbreaking and is of considerable historical importance. Désiré Raoul-Rochette assisted Blaramberg in this work. Leitzmann 13.
