The Preferred Edition

Head, Barclay V. HISTORIA NUMORUM: A MANUAL OF GREEK NUMISMATICS. New and enlarged edition. London, 1911. A well-preserved copy of the original printing of the preferred second edition of this landmark work. Though outdated in some respects, Historia Numorum remains the standard and most comprehensive single volume reference work ever written on ancient Greek coins. Daehn 52. Grierson 51–52. Kroh 7: “This encyclopedia of Greek numismatics, long regarded as one of the best books ever written on Greek coinage, has been the inspiration for all other references that have followed ... full of insight and information that cannot be easily found elsewhere ... it still stands on its own.”
