Baker’s work on the engravings of Washington is important and not without numismatic relevance. Artists discussed by Baker include Charles Willson Peale, Pierre Eugène du Simitière, Joseph Wright, Jean-Antoine Houdon, John Trumbull, Gilbert Stuart, Rembrandt Peale, William Birch, and others. William J. Campbell, to whom this copy was inscribed by the author, was a notable dealer in engravings.
