Includes offprints or extracts of articles originally published in the Numismatic Chronicle and the Revue belge de numismatique. Baron Bernard von Koehne (1817–1886) was the publisher of the Zeitschrift für Münz-, Siegel- und Wappenkunde (1841–1846 and 1859–1862), which was followed more successfully by the Berliner Blätter für Münz-, Siegel- und Wappenkunde beginning in 1862. Its cessation in 1873 provided Dr. Alfred von Sallet with the impetus to establish the Zeitschrift für Numismatik the following year in order to fill the void resulting from its absence.
