Great Britain Most Distinguished Order of St Michael & St George Companion Neck Badge 1917
Barac# 761; vgAg 68x50mm; Enameled; with original neck ribbon, in original box; manufactured by Garrard & Co.; 3rd edition; Donated on 27 April 1818 by the Prince Regent George (later King George IV) on behalf of his father, King George III, to the award of citizens of the Ionian Islands and Malta, which had been part of Great Britain since 1814. As early as 1868, the award of the Order was extended to the entire Empire. Women have only been admitted to the Order since 1964. Today, the Order is awarded primarily to diplomats and officials in the Foreign Service, as well as to persons who have performed valuable services in the Commonwealth countries. The insult with this class leads for British (and formerly also for Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, etc.) the inclusion in the knighthood with the right to lead the, salutation "Sir" or "Lady."
