Plastic; A green coloured circular token, injection moulded in polystyrene (PS). 'Valid in NAAFI Egypt only' is moulded into the top face and 'Navy Army & Air Force Institutes. NAAFI. Servitor Servientium' around a coat-of-arms, in the reverse. Issued solely for the benefit of troops in making cash purchases at NAAFI establishments such as the canteens, when small change was not available. Any unused tokens could be exchanged for money on the return home. The Navy, Army and Air force Institute, abbreviated to NAAFI, was established by the British government in 1921 to ensure goods were supplied to members of the armed forces and their families at reasonable prices.
